Tonto National Monument

Visited on Memorial Day, May 28th 2012. The remains of what was once a village of 60-70 people. The structure was probably at one point 3 or 4 stories, but they have eroded down to what you see in the elements over the years. Quite an impressive view down to the salt river in the Tonto Basin below... and quite a hike up to the dwellings. Amazing that people lived and farmed here! Quite an interesting stop. Hoping we can make it back to see a village that is higher up and larger but closed in the summer.

Peace and love.
